The Army chief has urged all parties to spare him from politics, while expressing his approval on compensation for locals killed by the authorities in the restive South.

Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha commented on the 7.5 million baht compensation for locals killed by the authorities in the three southernmost provinces, saying he approves the decision if other relevant agencies see the compensation as appropriate.

The Army chief urged all parties not to link him with any matter that may create political and policy-related rifts as he and the Army are working under the Defense Ministry's command.

The Army chief also refused to comment on politically-linked policies, saying it would be best for the defense minister to express opinions on the issue.
